Kelly Q. Bennett, Founder and Trial Attorney

A Career Built in the Courtroom

Kelly Bennett is, first and foremost, a trial lawyer.

Throughout his career, he has represented clients in a broad range of civil and criminal proceedings, from serious felony prosecutions to complex personal injury litigation. His experience includes more than 50 jury trials taken to verdict as lead counsel, along with numerous bench trials, contested hearings, and appellate proceedings.

His work has taken him into courtrooms throughout Northern Illinois, as well as the federal courts, including the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.

In criminal defense, Kelly has represented individuals facing charges ranging from misdemeanors and DUI offenses to serious felonies. He understands that a criminal accusation can threaten a person's freedom, reputation, livelihood, and family. He approaches every case with the conviction that the constitutional rights of the accused deserve meaningful and vigorous protection.

In personal injury matters, Kelly has spent his career advocating for people harmed by the negligence of others. Through negotiated settlements and trial verdicts, he has helped obtain millions of dollars in compensation for injured clients.

Kelly also represents buyers and sellers in residential real estate transactions, providing practical guidance and personal attention through one of life's most important financial decisions.

Preparation Is the Foundation

Kelly Bennett believes that effective representation begins long before an attorney enters the courtroom.

It begins with listening carefully to the client, understanding the facts, identifying the issues, and developing a thoughtful strategy. Every case presents its own challenges, and every client deserves an approach tailored to their circumstances.

That commitment to preparation has guided Kelly's practice since its inception.

At Bennett Law Offices, clients work directly with Attorney Kelly Q. Bennett. They are not simply another file or case number. They are individuals and families who deserve straightforward advice, clear communication, and an attorney personally invested in their legal matters.

Professional Experience and Leadership

Kelly Bennett earned his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee and his Juris Doctor from Chicago-Kent College of Law in 1998, where he also earned a Certificate in International and Comparative Legal Studies.

Before establishing Bennett Law Offices, he practiced with the Chicago litigation firm of Ciardelli & Cummings, gaining valuable experience in civil litigation, state and federal criminal defense, and plaintiff's personal injury law.

Kelly previously served as Vice-Chair and Chair of the Criminal Law Committee of the DuPage County Bar Association, helping organize continuing legal education programs for fellow attorneys. He also served as an adjunct professor of Business Law at Aurora University.

In 2015 and 2016, Kelly was recognized among the National Trial Lawyers' Top 100 Trial Lawyers.

Commitment Beyond the Practice of Law

Outside the courtroom, Kelly has devoted considerable time to his family, education, athletics, and community service.

A longtime youth sports coach, Kelly has served as an assistant cross-country and track coach at Marmion Academy. He believes that many of the principles that guide successful athletes—discipline, perseverance, preparation, accountability, and teamwork—are equally important in the practice of law.

Kelly has also served in leadership roles with Catholic school athletics and parish organizations, reflecting his longstanding commitment to helping young people develop character, confidence, and a sense of purpose.

A Personal Commitment to Every Client

After nearly three decades of practicing law, Kelly remains committed to the reason he entered the profession: helping people navigate difficult circumstances and ensuring that their voices are heard.

Whether defending someone's freedom, seeking justice for an injured person, or guiding a family through a real estate transaction, his commitment remains the same.

Listen carefully. Prepare thoroughly. Advocate relentlessly.
